A rampant Kolkata Knight Riders demolished Sunrisers Hyderabad to win their 3rd IPL title in the IPL 2024 Final on Sunday (May 26).
The Final has also brought some excellent news for the environmental conservation aficionados and the human race as a whole, due to a BCCI initiative.

Amid the increasing global warming and deforestation, BCCI took the pledge of planting trees in every dot ball during the IPL playoffs. As per the understanding, BCCI promised to plant 500 trees for every dot ball during the playoffs.
As SRH skittled out for just 113 runs, there was no shortage of dot balls. As the Hyderabad batters struggled, the dot ball count kept on increasing in their innings. In the 18.3 overs that SRH played, a total of 56 balls didn't yield any run for them, accounting for more than 50 per cent of dot balls.
In the KKR innings, which lasted for just 10.3 overs, the Knights didn't score a run in 19 deliveries.
A total of 75 dot balls were bowled in the match, the most coming from KKR's Harshit Rana, who had 14 deliveries without conceding any runs. And that has boosted the plantation tally.
From the IPL 2024 Final, BCCI will now aid in planting 37,500 tree saplings across the country.
