IPL 2024 final is likely to be held just five days before the start of the T20 World Cup 2024 in USA and West Indies in June, according to reports.
According to a report by Cricbuzz, BCCI is planning to host the IPL 2024 title clash on May 26 with the season 17 likely to start on March 22, just five days after the Women's Premier League (WPL) season 2 final.

The second season of the WPL will take place from February 22 to March 17 in Bengaluru and Delhi, as per previous reports. The official announcement of the dates is likely to be made in the coming days.
The Indian cricket board also wants hold the entire IPL 2024 in India despite earlier reports suggesting that part of the season may be held abroad due to the general elections in the country. The IPL 2024 schedule, however, will be finalized only after the election dates are announced.
The report also added that BCCI has received assurances from most cricket boards about their players availability until the final. But, with the T20 World Cup starting on June 1, some players may depart early.
While the players availability may be a concern, the main concern of the BCCI at this stage is to align the schedule with the general elections and hold the league in India.
The IPL 2024 final being held just a few days before the T20 World Cup starts is expected to receive a lot of criticism after last season's final also met flak as Team India Test players did not get much time to prepare for the World Test Championship Final.
The WTC Final took place from June 7 with the IPL 2023 final taking place on May 29, giving the likes of Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami and Ajinkya Rahane just a week to prepare for the red ball game.
This time, however, India will start their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign on June 5, which is a good nine days away from the rumoured IPL 2024 final date. Also, playing a T20 show-piece tournament after another challenging T20 tournament like IPL may be of help for the players.
