IPL 2024: Five Active Bowlers To Take Most Wickets against Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians (MI) qualified for the playoffs in IPL 2023 and even eliminated Lucknow Super Giants out of the competition but their campaign came to an end when they lost to Gujarat Titans in the Qualifier 2.

They are one of the most successful teams in the tournament's history as they have five IPL titles. MI are usually known for their slow starts in the tournament but they hit the peak levels when it matters in the crucial games.

Out of their 16 participating campaigns, they qualified for the playoffs 10 times and reached the finals on six occasions. Opposition bowlers have always found it tough to bowl to MI batters since the inception of the IPL.

Needless to say, some bowlers braved the challenges and gave Mumbai Indians a run for their money. Let's take a look at the five active bowlers who have taken the most wickets against Mumbai Indians in the tournament.

1. Mohit Sharma: Mohit Sharma has caused all sorts of troubles to Mumbai Indians in the tournament, accounting for 33 dismissals, the joint-most for a bowler alongside Dwayne Bravo. The right-arm pacer is known for his potential to deceive the batters by varying his pace every now and then, keeping the batsmen guessing, making him an unpredictable bowler.

2. Ravichandran Ashwin: India's premier off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin who plays for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, comes third on the list as he has taken 26 wickets against MI in the tournament's history. He will be looking forward to adding a few more wickets to his tally when he will play against MI on April 1.

3. Yuzvendra Chahal: Yuzvendra Chahal follows next on the list as he has accounted for 25 wickets against MI. For the record, he kick-started his IPL venture with Mumbai Indians before shifting his base to Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Chahal who represents Rajasthan Royals in the ongoing IPL is the leading wicket-taker in the tournament with 188 wickets.

4. Piyush Chawla: Piyush Chawla has been a part of the IPL since 2008. The experienced spinner currently plays for MI in the ongoing season. Earlier, he represented multiple teams including Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings), Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings. During his stint at these teams, he took 25 wickets against MI.

5. Amit Mishra: Amit Mishra has been a part of the tournament since the inaugural edition. The senior pro has taken 25 wickets against Mumbai Indians. He is also the fourth leading wicket-taker in the IPL with 173 wickets to his name including 4 four wicket hauls and a fifer.
