IPL 2024: Four CSK players who may be perfect as Impact Player

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have a massive onus to defend their title as they prepare for the IPL 2024 battle.

CSK have roped in some top-notch players in the IPL 2024 auction and have a formidable squad. They retained their big stars like MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja and others, and then splashed the money to bring in other players.

CSK

New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell was bought for Rs. 14 crore, whereas Indian youngster Sameer Rizvi was also signed for Rs. 8.40 crore. Along with him, Shardul Thakur has also returned to CSK after Kolkata Knight Riders released him before the auction.

The Impact Player rule was introduced last season in IPL 2023, where a player can come on as a substitute and participate in batting and bowling. The arrival of this rule changed the dynamics of the IPL last season, and it is set to play a big part again in 2024. Here are the four players who may not start in the match, but can be introduced as an Impact Player-

Rajvardhan Hangargekar

The young Indian pacer Rajvardhan Hangargekar can be a good option as an Impact Player. The 21-year-old played only two matches last season but was named on the bench many times.

Fast forward to 2024, Hangargekar may play a bigger part for CSK and can be a good introduction as an Impact Player if they bat first in any match. Hangargekar's pace and ability to pick wickets can come in handy for the five-time IPL champions.

Ajinkya Rahane

Ajinkya Rahane had a renaissance last season with Chennai Super Kings. The veteran India batter showcased his destructive self with some stellar knocks for CSK, which earned him a call-up to the Indian team.

Rahane hasn't been in the best of form in domestic limited-overs cricket this season. With just one half-century in 8 List A matches, Rahane may not warrant a starting spot, but will surely be a good option in the bench for Chennai Super Kings.

Sameer Rizvi

Sameer Rizvi's signing has caused shockwaves across the cricketing fraternity. The UP-born batter was roped in for a humongous sum of INR 8.4 crore, which makes him the most expensive uncapped player.

Sameer Rizvi

Rizvi will play in his maiden IPL season and may well be eased into the system. Rizvi's fearless aggression can be a big weapon for CSK and a role as an Impact Player may well be perfect for him.

Prashant Solanki

Prashant Solanki is one of the retained players from last season. Solanki, who plays for Maharashtra in the domestic circuit, can be a potent option for CSK this season. He played two matches and picked up 2 wickets last season and also had an impressive economy rate.

The 23-year-old can be a decent bowling option in the Chennai pitch with his slow leg-breaks, and we are ought to see him in more than two matches this season.
