IPL 2024: Four KKR stars who can be perfect as Impact Player

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will be hoping to end their decade-long trophy drought in the IPL 2024 audition.

KKR have been quite disappointing in the last few seasons and need a strong outing this time around. They will be hoping to come with all guns blazing in IPL 2024.

KKR retained all of their big stars and then have added some more artillery in the IPL 2024 auction. They bought Australian pacer Mitchell Starc, who is now the most expensive player in IPL's history with a mammoth value of Rs. 24.75 crore.

Manish Pandey is another name who has returned to KKR this year, while they have added players like Sherfane Rutherford, Ramandeep Singh, Gus Atkinson and others.

The Impact Player rule was introduced in IPL 2023 where a player can come on as a substitute and take part in batting and bowling. The arrival of this rule changed the dynamics of the IPL last season, and it is set to play a big part again in 2024. Here are the four players who may not start in the match, but can be introduced as an Impact Player-

Manish Pandey

Manish Pandey was snapped by KKR this season after his release from Delhi Capitals team. The veteran player has been part of the KKR squad before and was the hero in the 2014 Final for them. He may not warrant a start in the team this time around, but can be a handy player with the Impact role.

Pandey's experience makes him a good addition to the KKR squad who can chip in with bat in run chases and other situations.

Anukul Roy

Anukul Roy was retained by KKR for the coming season. The Jharkhand all-rounder has shown his talent in glimpses but never cemented his place last season. With the likes of Mitchell Starc, Ramandeep Singh signed this season, Anukul's opportunity will be a lot more curbed, but the Jharkhand player is a perfect option as an Impact Player. His all-round abilities fit the bill for KKR and may get opportunities throughout the season.

Suyash Sharma

The leg-spinner from Delhi was unearthed to the world by KKR in IPL 2023. Suyash Sharma performed brilliantly last season with 10 wickets, and has backed that with a brilliant debut season in the domestic circuit.

The leg-spinner is certain in the Impact Player role and will be named in almost all instances when KKR bat first in a match. Suyash's expertise with the ball makes him an asset for KKR, but he may have to wait on the bench this season and just take part with the ball.

Chetan Sakariya

Chetan Sakariya was one of KKR's signings in the IPL 2024 auction. The left-arm pacer was released by Rajasthan Royals ahead of IPL 2024, and recent controversy over his action makes Sakariya one of those fringe players.

But the pacer will be able to bowl if needed and KKR can use him as an Impact Player. Sakariya's lethal change of pace, wide yorkers can be a big boost for KKR, who have a dismal record in death bowling.
