Irrespective of Hardik Pandya's departure, Gujarat Titans (GT) are expected to come back with a highly energetic performance and consistency given they have reached the IPL finals in the last two editions.
Young opener Subman Gill now has taken over as the new leader of the franchise. Despite the optimism, the side has suffered another jolt with pacer Mohammed Shami injured and out for the season. This has left fans puzzled about how the playing 11 of Gujarat Titans look like in IPL 2024.

As far as the gap in the pace is concerned, it could be filled by Umesh Yadav, who did well in GT colours last season and is eager to make a point ahead of the T20 World Cup. And for a pace all-rounder like Pandya, GT may not have to look beyond Vijay Shankar, who has impressed with the bat in the last two seasons.
In addition, the franchise bought in pinch-hitter Shahrukh Khan and pacer Spencer Johnson. And despite the absences of some of the key names, Gujarat Titans still have some match winners among their ranks. Afghan spin all-rounder Rashid Khan is among those T20 experts, who can turn the game around on their own be it with the ball or the bat.
Retained keeper batter Wriddhiman Saha, who is playing on borrowed time at 39, is expected to perform better before he calls it a day. With their abroad players -- Kane Williamson, Spencer Jonson, and David Miller -- GT can go for the full monty.
Despite the last two dominating IPL seasons in group stages and a plethora of star players among their line-ups, experts may still doubt if the Ahmedabad-based franchise can reach the play-off this season as Gill's leadership qualities are untested. MyKhel takes a look at how the new captain may line-up his team for the opening match against Mumbai Indians, led by their former captain Pandya.
