Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson's departure was controversial, but Delhi Capitals assistant coach Pravin Amre has said credit needs to to be given to Shai Hope for judging that catch well in IPL 2024 match 56 at the Arun Jaitle Stadium in Delhi on Tuesday (May 7).
In a chase of 222, Samson was judged out after a well-made 86 off 46 balls. His dismissal left the Royals with a task of getting 60 runs from 27 balls and eventually they fell short by 20 runs.

A win would have ensured a play-offs spot for the Rajasthan Royals and exit for the Delhi Capitals but the result meant that the hosts stayed alive in the tournament.
Samson was unhappy when he left the field because there were doubts if Hope, who caught him at the boundary ropes, had touched the fence. The decision was referred to the TV umpire who ruled Samson out but the Royals skipper chose to argue with on-field umpire before walking back.
The catch by Hope, who stumbled before regaining his balance, was hailed by Delhi Capitals' assistant coach Amre, who also revealed that the DC dug out had doubts about it before seeing the replays.
"In IPL some moments are very crucial, and it was a deciding moment in the game," Amre said at the post match press conference. "Sanju was batting so well. We have to give credit to the way Hope judged that catch. Umpires are there, and there is so much technology.
"We also thought from the dugout that he has (touched the boundary) but it (happens) in the game, and the umpire's decision is the final decision. It wasn't an easy catch, it was really travelling. After the game also I spoke to him and he said the ball came very, very fast."
Delhi Capitals posted 221/8 in their 20 overs, courtesy of remarkable knocks from Abishek Porel (65 off 36 balls), Jake Fraser-McGurk (50 off 20 balls) and Tristan Stubbs (41 off 20 balls).
A collective bowling effort from Kuldeep Yadav (2/25), Mukesh Kumar (2/30) and Khaleel Ahmed (2/47) helped the home side to restrict Rajasthan Royals to 201/8, winning
Reflecting on the performance Delhi Capitals' Assistant Coach Amre said, "We batted well to get those 20 runs extra. We have to give credit to Stubbs because his 20 balls 41 were so important for the team."
"The pressure was there (in bowling), it wasn't easy, there was like 12 runs per over were required. Rasikh, for the third time, delivered when the team needed it. In the 19th over, bowling those five yorkers, was something special. Kuldeep bowling that 18th over and getting 2 wickets was crucial," he added.
Following the win, Delhi Capitals moved up to fifth in the points table. They now have 12 points and can get a a maximum of 16 while there are a few teams that have a chance of getting to 18 points.
Delhi Capitals will look to keep their playoff chances alive when they next take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday (May 12).
