IPL 2024: Hits and Flops from The Week 6 of the Indian Premier League

The IPL 2024 is entering the business end. After 51 Group Stage matches so far, no team is officially in the playoffs or eliminated.

Rajasthan Royals still occupy the top spot with 16 points in 10 matches, while Kolkata Knight Riders are currently 2nd with 14 points in 10 matches. Royal Challengers Bengaluru sit at the bottom with 6 points in 10 matches, while Mumbai Indians are similarly struggling with 6 points in 11 matches.

IPL 2024 Hits amp amp Flops from Week 6

The Week 6 of IPL 2024 saw a positive resurgence from KKR who registered two important victories. Lucknow Super Giants also showed their mettle with a string of victories. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians slipped to consecutive defeats.

IPL 2024: Hit Players from Week 6

Varun Chakravarthy (KKR)

Varun Chakravarthy has finally come alive for KKR in the week. He shrugged off the disappointment against Punjab Kings and has shown his mettle against Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians.

The KKR spinner picked up three wickets against DC and was the Player of the Match. He continued that with another brilliant bowling performance against Mumbai Indians, picking up 2 wickets. In the two matches, Varun picked up 5 wickets for 38 runs in 8 overs.

Ruturaj Gaikwad (CSK)

Chennai Super Kings Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad had a tremendous week 6, which has taken them to the top of the Orange Cap list. Gaikwad scored a magnificent 98 against Sunrisers Hyderabad in their first match, and then backed it up with another scintillating 62 runs against Punjab Kings, although the latter inning came in a losing cause.

Will Jacks (RCB)

Will Jacks showed his batting prowess against Gujarat Titans. Chasing 201, the 25-year-old England batter scored an unbeaten 100 off just 41 balls. He hit 5 fours and 10 sixes in that scintillating knock as RCB won the match comfortably and still remain alive in the playoff race.

Hit Team of the Week 6

Kolkata Knight Riders: The hit team of the week award goes to Kolkata Knight Riders because of their amazing comeback from the setback against Punjab Kings. KKR didn't let their head low and returned to winning waves against Delhi Capitals with an excellent bowling performance. And then against Mumbai Indians, they did the unthinkable and won at the Wankhede for the first time in twelve years, again with another excellent bowling display.

IPL 2024: Flop Players from Week 6

Rohit Sharma (MI)

Rohit Sharma's woes with the bat continued in Week 6. The Mumbai Indians stalwart only managed 15 runs across two matches in the week and thus finds himself among the flop list. The India captain has failed to score big in the last four innings as he has only managed 35 runs.

Anmolpreet Singh (SRH)

Sunrisers Hyderabad has used Anmolpreet Singh as the specialist batter but he has disappointed so far. The Punjab player got the opportunity twice but failed to make an impact. He scored a duck against CSK and then managed only 5 runs against RR after that. It looks likely that the 26-year-old may not play any part in the upcoming SRH matches.

Luke Wood (MI)

Luke Wood has played two matches for Mumbai Indians and has been taken to the cleaners. The Englishman conceded 68 runs in four overs against Delhi Capitals and has gone at 15.5 runs per over in those two matches. Among the many poor MI performers, Wood makes the list as another flop for the week.

Flop Team of Week 6

Mumbai Indians: It is quite evident that Mumbai Indians are the Flop team of the week. The Paltans played three matches in the week and lost all three of them, extending their losing streak to 4 matches. Their chances to make the playoffs also look done and dusted.

MI are currently languishing at 9th place with just 6 points and 11 matches, and have looked like a disjointed team across all departments. Sometimes the batting has worked and the bowling has disappointed, while the vice versa happened against Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday at the Wankhede Stadium.
