The IPL 2024 has gone past its halfway stage and the teams are already shaping up in the points table as we enter the 2nd half of the group stages.
The likes of Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders have taken a significant leap in the playoff race while Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings have fallen behind.

The IPL 2024 auction dismantled all the previous records as teams spent a huge amount of money to complete their respective squads. Pat Cummins was sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 20.50 crore, while soon after Kolkata Knight Riders secured the services of Mitchell Starc for a humongous Rs 24.75 crore.
We have witnessed contrasting performances in this tournament. Indian domestic players have emerged to be heroes for their teams while some of the reputed international names have struggled to find a rhythm.
Here are the performance chart of the Ten Most Expensive IPL 2024 Auction Buys and Ratings-
Mitchell Starc has endured a torrid IPL 2024 so far. He has picked up 6 wickets in seven matches for Kolkata Knight Riders and has conceded 11.48 runs per over. The Australian so far has made next to nothing impact for KKR and that doesn't bode well for him.
Rating: 2/10
Pat Cummins has led Sunrisers Hyderabad brilliantly. The Australia captain has 9 wickets in 7 matches for SRH and has been one of their top players with the ball. His captaincy, decision-making and reading of the game make him a signing worth the massive price.
Rating: 8/10
Daryl Mitchell went for a massive money in the auction but his performances have been underwhelming this season. The Kiwi batter has managed 146 runs in seven matches at a strike rate of 123. It is not the worst but CSK would have expected better dividends.
Rating: 5.5/10
Harshal Patel had a dismal start with Punjab Kings but he has turned things around drastically. The Indian pacer has 13 wickets in eight matches and is the joint-most wicket-taker this season so far. Although PBKS are struggling, Harshal has proven his worth.
Rating: 7.5/10
Alzarri Joseph's big-money move to RCB has been a disaster. The West Indies pacer played three matches and went for plenty of runs. He has picked up 1 wicket so far and has travelled with an economy of 11.9.
Rating: 3/10
Spencer Johnson has shone in patches for Gujarat Titans but overall the move hasn't been a success. In five matches, Johnson has 4 wickets to his name and he finds himself out of the team for now.
Rating: 4/10
The 20-year-old Uttar Pradesh came to the limelight by becoming the most expensive uncapped player in the IPL 2024 auction. CSK has tried him as an impact player in some matches but the move has just not worked. In three innings, Sameer Rizvi has managed only 15 runs with 14 being his highest score. Rizvi is still young but will have to step up to retain his price tag.
Rating: 2/10
Rilee Rossouw has only played two matches for Punjab Kings this season and has only 10 runs to his name. The southpaw came on the back to some terrific form in PSL but is yet to replicate that in the IPL. Hopefully, for PBKS fans, he will showcase his prowess in coming matches.
Rating: 3/10
Shahrukh Khan has also found his chances limited at Gujarat Titans. But in the chances he got, the Tamil Nadu player has mostly disappointed. Khan has only scored 30 runs in four matches at an average of 7.5 this season.
Rating: 3/10
Rovman Powell has played three matches for Rajasthan Royals so far. RR have used him as a batter and the West Indies T20I captain has scored 37 runs in two innings. Powell played his first match against KKR and scored 26 important runs which helped them chase down 223 runs. He has shown glimpses of batting brilliance this season and will be hoping to continue that in the coming matches.
