The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) team is exuding confidence in the IPL 2024. The return of Shreyas Iyer, KKR captain, has been highlighted as a major positive factor for the team's prospects.
But another pivotal piece of transfer which happened this season was the joining of mentor Gautam Gambhir. The former KKR captain has returned with a new role at the Kolkata franchise and has already made a mark.

KKR's head coach Chandrakant Pandit acknowledged the importance of Gambhir's return to KKR. Pandit, at the Knights Dugout podcast, Pandit went on to say that working with Gambhir was an honour for him.
"Gautam has come back after a long time. He has done so much for KKR, I feel it's an honour for me, because he has got such a huge experience & he has been around this cricketing world for so long. It will definitely help and is a big boost for all of us, not only the support staff but the players too," Pandit said at the podcast.
KKR are placed 2nd in the points table and after the disappointments in the past two season, the two-time IPL champions are finally looking on their way to the playoffs.
"Looking at the entire KKR team, I feel very confident that we have a very balanced side now. Shreyas coming back is also a big boost for the entire unit, I mean we have like-to-like replacements as well this year," the KKR coach added.
Gambhir's return to the helm is an integral part of KKR's revival story this season. They won their most recent IPL match against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, which marks their first victory at the venue in twelve years. With the playoff knocking on the door, KKR will take on Lucknow Super Giants up next on Sunday (May 5) at the BRSAVB Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
