IPL 2024: KKR Secure Massive Record under Shreyas Iyer for the First Time, Even Gautam Gambhir couldn't Achieve That

Kolkata Knight Riders secured a fantastic victory over Delhi Capitals in their latest IPL 2024 match on Wednesday (April 3).

The Knight Riders were doubted by a lot of experts but they are soaring high so far this season. The combination of Gautam Gambhir and Shreyas Iyer along with others has clicked big time for the two-time Champions, who sit at the top of the points table.

It was yet another terrific victory for the Knight Riders, who also posted the 2nd highest total in IPL's history, as they amassed a humongous 272 runs in their 20 overs. In reply, Delhi Capitals could only manage 166 runs and KKR secured a gigantic victory by 106 runs.

The victory was KKR's 2nd biggest win margin by runs and the 9th biggest win margin in IPL history. Apart from that, KKR registered another milestone for themselves on the night.

KKR win First Three IPL Matches for the First Time

Kolkata Knight Riders have now started off their season with three victories in three matches, which happened for the first time in their history. Previously, the Knights have registered two wins in their first two but always got beaten in their third match. But this would come as a huge boost for the KKR side.

Under current mentor and former captain Gautam Gambhir, KKR never won their first two matches. KKR won their first two matches twice (2008, 2010) under former captain Sourav Ganguly.

In 2019, the Knight Riders started with two wins but it was Delhi Capitals who beat them in the Super Over in the third match. Hence, this is a significant achievement for the KKR team under captain Shreyas Iyer.

They won their first two matches this season against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bengaluru respectively.

KKR Season in IPL 2024 So Far

KKR vs SRH - 1st Win

KKR started off their season with a home win over SRH. After posting 208 runs, the Knights got saved by an excellent final over by Harshit Rana and secured a victory by just 4 runs.

RCB vs KKR - 2nd Win

In the second match, KKR registered another emphatic win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru. After RCB's 182 runs batting first, the Knight Riders chased it down with more than three overs to spare.

DC vs KKR - 3rd Win

The third and latest win came against Delhi Capitals. KKR secured the victory by 106 runs as Sunil Narine was the star of the show. Young debutant Angkrish Raghuvanshi also batted supremely well with a fifty while Vaibhav Arora showcased his prowess with three wickets.
