Kolkata Knight Riders have announced the signing of Sri Lanka pacer Dushmantha Chameera as a replacement for English pacer Gus Atkinson on Monday (February 19).
The Knight Riders bought Atkinson at his base price of Rs 1 crore in the IPL 2024 auction, but an injury means the English pacer won't play any part in the upcoming tournament.

And now KKR have named Chameera as the replacement for the upcoming edition. The Sri Lanka bowler will join them at his base price of Rs 50 lakh. Chameera was part of Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore in previous years, but made his IPL debut for Lucknow Super Giants in 2022.
He has so far played 12 IPL matches and has 9 wickets to his name. The 32-year-old is known for his pace and swing up front and is a handy bowler with more than 150 international wickets for Sri Lanka across all formats.
Chameera adds to the long list of Sri Lankan players in the Knight Riders setup. Previously, the likes of Ajantha Mendis, Sachithra Senanayake, Angelo Mathews and Chamika Karunaratne have worn the purple of the Knight Riders in the IPL.
Apart from Chameera, the two-time IPL champions have a decent set of overseas players. Sunil Narine and Andre Russell will continue to represent them, while Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Jason Roy were also retained from last season. Sherfane Rutherford, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and IPL's most expensive player Mitchell Starc are KKR's other foreign recruitments for the IPL 2024 season.
