IPL 2024: KKR star Venkatesh Iyer reveals his 'Special Reason' for Kiss Celebration

Kolkata Knight Riders batter Venkatesh Iyer revealed the reason for the 'special celebration' after a power-packed performance against RCB on Friday (March 29).

KKR demolished the Bengaluru outfit at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium and Iyer played an important part in it. The batter scored a fifty and helped KKR in their victory.

Iyer came in after Sunil Narine and Phil Salt provided the Knights an excellent platform in the run chase. The southpaw capitalized on that and got to his first fifty of the season. Iyer scored 50 off 30 balls and hit 3 fours and 4 sixes in his scintillating knock.

The 29-year-old got to his fifty and then made a special celebration. He sent some flown kisses towards the stand after completing his half-century. And during a post-match chat, the player himself revealed the reason for his celebration.

"Also my fiance was here today so it was a special day. I would like to dedicate this performance to her," Iyer said. The player got engaged last November with Shruti Raghunathan and is set to tie the knot in the near future.

Iyer failed to score in the first match and after this fifty, the KKR batter must feel better. But there can be trouble for Iyer as he damaged his back while playing a shot. When asked about the condition, the player replied that he would have to undergo a scan to know the extent of his issue.

Venkatesh Iyer can be one of KKR's important parts of the jigsaw, and an injury to him may be a big blow for them. After securing a comfortable win over RCB, the Kolkata team became the first away team in this season's IPL to win a match.
