IPL 2024: MA Chidambaram Stadium Pitch Report, Weather Forecast, T20, Indian Premier League Records & Stats
MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, established in 1916 as the second oldest cricket stadium in India, will host at least matches during the seventeenth edition of the Indian Premier League – IPL 2024, starting from Friday (March 22).
The MA Chidambaram Stadium, also known as the Chepauk Statdium, has served as home venues to Tamil Nadu state teams, the Indian cricket team and since 2008, when Indian Premier League (IPL) started as a home to the Chennai-based franchise Chennai Super Kings.

The Den as it’s fondly called by the Yellow Brigade, Chepauk Stadium will play hosts to at least seven home games of Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s defending champions in the upcoming campaign of IPL.
In the partial released schedule, CSK will host two matches, starting with the southern derby against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Friday (March 22) followed by the clash against Gujarat Titans in a rematch from last season’s final on March 26.
The remaining matches were released soon, and the MA Chidambaram Stadium, named after former president of BCCI and Head of TNCA, will host five home games and the two playoff matches at the venue.
The Chepauk has hosted several matches in IPL, the home games of CSK in 9 season and as a neutral host during the 2021 season. Now, we take a look at the Chennai MA Chidambaram Stadium information, T20 and IPL records at the venue ahead of IPL 2024:
MA Chidambaram Stadium Pitch Report
Known to be on the slow side, assisting spinners and slower bowlers, the pitches at the Chennai venue are likely to remain the same, but the first few matches may see the batters finding it a little easy. However, it won’t be like most other venues in the country, producing high-scoring games.
