Former England cricketer and pundit Kevin Pietersen shared facing a horrible situation during his journey to Mumbai for the IPL 2024 clash between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings on Sunday (April 14).
Pietersen was scheduled to be part of the broadcasting for the MI vs CSK clash, but his arrival got postponed for a geopolitical issue, which saw Iran at odds with Israel.

Iran's ongoing tension with Israel escalated recently and Pietersen's flight had to be detoured after Iran launched a missile and drone attack towards Israel.
The flight had to take a detour and thus the England player couldn't arrive in Mumbai on time. Sharing the nerve-chilling incident, he wrote on social media and described it as 'madness'.
"Well that's a first. Our plane last night had to go back and add another big load of fuel cos we had to reroute to avoid the missiles from Iran. MADNESS!!!! Anyway, in Mumbai and at Wankede later. One of my favourite cricket grounds," Pietersen wrote on his X(formerly Twitter) profile.
The ongoing political unrest in the Middle East has escalated in the past few days and the Indian government has already sent their advisories to the Indian citizens living in Israel.
The IPL 2024 matches are continuing as scheduled as Mumbai Indians are set to take on Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede in the evening, while Kolkata Knight Riders play Lucknow Super Giants at Eden Gardens in the afternoon.
