Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, established in 2021, will host the IPL for the first time during the seventeenth edition of the Indian Premier League – IPL 2024, starting from Saturday (March 23).
The Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, which has the ability to house 38,000 fans, has served as home venues to Punjab state team and will serve as a home to the Punjab-based franchise Punjab Kings from the 2024 IPL season.

Punjab Kings have shifted base from the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Stadium, the IS Bindra Stadium, in Mohali. The new venue will host the home games of PBKS from IPL 2024
In the partial released schedule, PBKS hosted one match – a clash against the Delhi Capitals in the first double-header of the season on Saturday (March 23) in a day time contest.
The remaining matches were revealed on March 25 as the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, named after after late Patiala royal, is set to host four more PBKS home matches of such big magnitude at the venue in Mullanpur.
The venue, however, has hosted several T20 matches in the domestic competition – Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2022 and 2023. Here is a look at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium T20 records and stats at the venue ahead of IPL 2024:
The wickets at the venue during the SMAT witnessed many games end as low-scoring affairs. Both pacers and spinners had got equal share of wickets, but the slower bowlers had come into play the most in the T20 games at the MYSIC Stadium.
However, in the first-ever IPL game, we saw a team chase down the highest total at the venue, where the boundary dimensions are 67 meters and 64 meters on the squares, 60 meters behind square, 73 meters front of square and 75 meters straighters boundaries.
We are at the start of the Indian summer, the day will be very hot and the evenings will be a little cooler in Mullanpur, seeing the temperatures rising up from 35°C to 37°C during the first week of the IPL 2024 with the low of 20°C to 22°C in March.
In April also the temperatures are expected to remain around 36°C to 38°C in the day with the low of 20°C to 23°C in the nights. In May, however, there is chance of some summer showers with temperatures expected to remain the same as April
