IPL 2024: Is Mayank Agarwal being traded to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)? In a move which could surprise many, the 32-year-old can possibly find himself playing for three teams in three years.
The former Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for Rs 8.25 crore ahead of the IPL 2023. However, he could not repay the faith and could manage to score just 270 runs in 10 matches at an average of 27 and a strike rate of 128.57.

Ahead of the IPL 2024 auction which is scheduled to be held on December 19, SRH released players including Harry Brook, Adil Rashid, young and impressive Vivrant Sharma, but chose to retain high prized Mayank Agarwal. The release of Brook and retention of Mayank shocked many.
When Mayank Agarwal looked all set to represent SRH for one more season at least, the cricketer himself has left the fans guessing by his latest Instagram move.
The right-hand batter has started following Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) Instagram handle. The Indian Cricket Team and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are the only two other cricket teams followed by Mayank Agarwal. He hasn't followed LSG on X though.
The development comes amid LSG becoming a home for Karnataka cricketers in the IPL. Captain KL Rahul and Krishnappa Gowtham were already part of the LSG set up before Devdutt Padikkal was traded in from Rajasthan Royals (RR). The inclusion of Mayank Agarwal will make him the fourth high-profile player from Karnataka.
However, the development would surprise many as LSG already have a number of opening options. Each one of Devdutt Padikkal, Rahul, Kyle Mayers and Quinton de Kock have the ability to open and give the Lucknow-based franchise a flying start. Only time will tell whether Mayank Agarwal is indeed going to LSG, or just following their handle to keep a check on his Karnataka teammates.
