Delhi Capitals all-rounder Sumit Kumar has faced social media ridicule after naming Hardik Pandya as his role model.
The Delhi all-rounder has made his IPL debut this year and has done moderately. Delhi Capitals released an up-and-close interview of Sumit Kumar on X, where the player spoke about his journey as a cricketer.

Born in Gurgaon, Sumit's cricketing journey started as an 8-year-old kid, and his parents played an important part in it. He played directly at the U-23 level and came back strongly after getting dropped in the first season.
While speaking about his role model, the 28-year-old said Hardik Pandya is his role model.
"My role model is Hardik Pandya. I have been following him for some time and the way he bats lower down the order, I resemble myself. The way he finishes the match, I try to emulate the same role and help my team," Sumit Kumar said.
Sumit also revealed that he regularly talks with Ricky Ponting and Saurabh Ganguly and credited the duo for backing him and saying, encouraging words to the player.
After naming Pandya as his role model, the fans on social media trolled Sumit Kumar. Pandya has been an ongoing subject of trolling and misbehaviour this entire IPL season, since taking over the Mumbai Indians captaincy from Rohit Sharma.
Fans trolled Sumit Kumar for following Hardik Pandya and warned him that following the MI all-rounder is detrimental to his career. 'Sumit, don't regret it in future', a fan wrote.
This fan warns DC captain Rishabh Pant to be alert as Sumit Kumar may take the captaincy from him.
