IPL 2024: MS Dhoni's Six Brought Back 'Nightmares' of Past, Says Yash Dayal's Father

By MyKhel Staff

In the thrilling encounter between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), it was the final over heroics by RCB's young bowler Yash Dayal that stole the spotlight. Also Read: Most Runs in IPL 2024 | Most Wickets | Most Sixes

As the match reached its climax, the nightmare of the past seemed to haunt Dayal's father, Chandrapall, when CSK's legendary captain MS Dhoni smashed a massive six off the first ball of the over.

Recalling the tense moment, Chandrapal told PTI, "Woh darawana sapna firse aa raha tha jab Dhoni ne pehli ball pe sixer mara (That terrifying dream of last season started to haunt me when Dhoni hit that 110-m six off the first ball)."

No point in blaming Chandrapall for having a moment of doubt as his son was famously hit for 5 sixes in the last over by KKR batter Rinku Singh during the last IPL. However, his faith in his son's abilities remained unwavering.

"But deep inside, I knew something good will happen this time. It's all the result of his hard work, full credit to him. The God has been kind," he added, acknowledging Yash's dedication.

Yash Dayal's exemplary performance in the final over, where he defended 17 runs against the likes of Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja, not only secured RCB's victory but also propelled them to the playoffs as the last qualifying team. Amidst the celebrations, Yash's first instinct was to check on his mother, Radha, via video call. "Kaisa feel kar rahi ho (how are you feeling mom?)" he inquired, bringing joy to his family.

Reflecting on his calm demeanor during the high-pressure situation, Yash commented, "I was confident of pulling it off after the first-ball six and was calm and composed." His remarkable achievement has brought immense pride to the Dayal household, with phones ringing incessantly with congratulatory messages.

Chandrapal, a former cricketer himself, retired from the Accountant General's office in Allahabad in 2019. As the Dayal family revels in Yash's success, they acknowledge that it's indeed "God's plan, baby," as aptly summed up by Rinku Singh on his Instagram page.
