IPL 2024: Mumbai Indians on Top of Another Humbling Record after Conceding Highest Total in IPL History

Mumbai Indians were at the receiving end of a gargantuan batting onslaught as Sunrisers Hyderabad posted the highest IPL team total as they scored 277 runs in an IPL 2024 match on Wednesday (March 27).

SRH broke RCB's previous record of 263 runs in IPL and now sit on top of the scoring chart in an IPL match, which is also the 4th highest total in T20 cricket history, and also the highest T20 score on Indian soil.

If conceding most runs in franchise cricket's history was not enough, Mumbai Indians have been hit with another humbling record in IPL. The five-time IPL champions have had their share of highs in IPL, but they have stooped to a new low as SRH put them to the sword.

Mumbai Indians have now conceded the most IPL highest totals when it comes to top 20 highest IPL scores.

Mumbai Indians: Top of Humbling IPL Record

Out of the 20 biggest IPL team totals, Mumbai Indians have been the bowling team on five occasions, the most in IPL history. Previously, they were joint-most with Punjab Kings, but the latest match has taken them to the top of this humbling record.

MI conceded 235 runs against RCB in 2015, which is the 10th-highest score in IPL. Gujarat Titans scored 233 against them in 2023, while KKR inflicted 232 runs on them, which are the 12th and 13th highest IPL scores. The Mumbai Indians feature in the list again with the 18th-highest team total, when Punjab Kings (then Kings XI Punjab) scored 230 runs against them in 2017.

Punjab Kings are 2nd in the List with Four instances when they have conceded amongst the top 20 IPL scores. Kolkata Knight Riders feature in the list thrice while Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bengaluru feature twice. Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Lions, Pune Warriors India and Rajasthan Royals are in the list once.
