Mumbai Indians have a reputation to keep at IPL 2024 as they are considered one of the best teams in IPL. The record five-time champions will have a new captain in Hardik Pandya for the season and are expected to hit the ground rolling.

Nuwan Thushara

A 29-year-old Srilankan cricketer, Thushara is one of the match-revolving all-rounders in the MI squad. Thushara made his international debut On February 13, 2022, against Australia at Sydney Cricket Ground and has played eight T20Is ever since. He is currently in form with the ball as his best career spell (5/20) came against hosts Bangladesh in a bilateral series.

He has played franchise cricket all over the globe, including Pakistan Super League, SA20, Lankan Premier League and others. What makes him effective is his economy rate of 8.98 in T20s.

Gerald Coetzee

South African Gerald Coetzee has all the potential elements to become a giant fast bowler. A 6-plus feet height bowler, Coetzee could be destructive with his pace-generating ability of 145 clicks and hit-the-deck bouncers. Coetzee also can swing with the pace and may solve the issue of a dearth of quality overseas pacers at Mumbai Indians, who bought him for Rs 5 crore at the last auction.

What led to his signing was a commendable show at the ODI World Cup, when he took 20 wickets while Proteas reached the semifinal. The pacer took 15 of his wickets during the middle overs. He was also the fifth leading wicket-taking bowler of the tournament.

Tim David

Singapore-born Australian player Tim David is one of the key players in the squad, who carries a big reputation as a hard-hitter. However, the cricketer, who has played for Australia since 2022, is yet to make it big at the international or IPL stage. During IPL 2024, he will be expected to be a finisher as he carries a high strike rate of 177.87 with 418 runs in 25 IPL matches.
