IPL 2024 Opening Ceremony In Videos and Photos: Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, AR Rahman, Others Perform At Gala Event

IPL 2024 Opening Ceremony took place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday. The event took place more than an hour before the season-opening match between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Hoards of Bollywood stars performed at the event, including actor Akshay Kumar, musician AR Rahman and singer Sonu Nigam, who also sang the national anthem before the start of the match. We take a look at some of the photos and videos from the opening ceremony.

During the opening ceremony, Chepauk crowd was enthralled by Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff's riveting performance. The Bollywood celebrities took a lap around the MA Chidambaram Stadium on a motorbike as well.

Tiger Shroff was seen dancing to his hit song from the movie War, Jai Jai Shiv Shankar, and the crowd was witnessed enjoying it. However, Akshay continued to amaze everyone by shaking his leg to the hit song Desi Boyz.

The venue was rocking as "Vande Mataram" saw sung by the mesmerizing Sonu Nigam and Mozart of Madras, AR Rahman. Chants of Vande Mataram soon filled the arena. The Chepauk crowd gave the Oscar-winning song "Jai Ho," written by AR Rahman, a hearty round of applause. The crowd was moving to the hit song from the multiple Academy Award-winning film "Slumdog Millionaire." Chepauk's opening ceremony acts conclude with pyrotechnics.

AR Rahman also treated his admirers love with one of his greatest hits songs, Chhaiyya Chhaiyya, from the popular film Dil Se. Sukhwinder Singh, a well-known Bollywood singer, sang the song originally composed by the music director.

Singers such as Mohit Chauhan, Neeti Mohan, and others joined AR Rahman on stage. Following their games, IPL office bearers sat for pictures with the leaders of both teams, Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad.

The glitz and glamour of the toss also led to a delay in the toss by 10 minutes. RCB captain Faf du Plessis opted to bat first after winning the toss against CSK, who had a new captain at the helm in Ruturaj Gaikwad.
