IPL 2024 Orange Cap Winner: Virat Kohli won the Orange Cap for the second time in his career after scoring 741 runs in 15 matches at an average of 61.75 and a strike rate of 154.69 in IPL 2024. He scored 158 runs more than second-placed Ruturaj Gaikwad.
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batting superstar won the Orange Cap back in 2016 as well. In that season, the right-hander scored 973 runs in 16 matches at an average of 81.08 and a strike rate of 152.03. Notably, no other player in the history of the IPL has crossed the 900-run mark.

Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill came the closest in IPL 2023 when he scored 890 runs in 17 matches at an average of 59.33 and a strike rate of 157.80. He won the Orange Cap for the season.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) batter Jos Buttler is the only batter to cross the 800-run mark in the IPL. Buttler won the Orange Cap in IPL 2023 by scoring 863 runs in 17 matches at an average of 57.53 and a strike rate of 149.05.
David Warner holds the record for winning the Orange Cap most number of times. He grabbed the honour in 2015, 2017 and 2019. West Indies legend Chris Gayle is the only player to win the Orange Cap in consecutive years.
In 2011, Gayle scored 608 runs, while in 2012 he piled up 733 runs and became the first player to cross the 700-run mark in the league. Australia's Shaun Marsh won the Orange Cap in the inaugural 2008 edition. Sachin Tendulkar became the first Indian to win the Orange Cap in 2010.
