IPL 2024 Playoff, RR vs RCB: Who Will be the Top Four Wicket-takers in Eliminator?

In the Eliminator of IPL 2024, former-champion Rajasthan Royals will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday (May 22).

Rajasthan have faced RCB 31 times and both have a neck-to-neck competition. RR and RCB have won 13 and 15 matches respectively and three matches ended with no result. In their last meeting, RR beat the Bengaluru side by six wickets.

Predicting top 4 wicket takers in RR vs RCB IPL 2024 Eliminator

Rajasthan after a great start with eight wins in the first nine matches, suddenly lost their momentum and they are entering the Eliminator with four consecutive losses and a washout. On the other hand, RCB had a dramatic campaign in this IPL.

After winning only one in their first eight matches they made a comeback and won six matches back-to-back, clinching the fourth spot in a virtual knock-out fixture against CSK.

RR vs RCB IPL 2024 Play-off: Bowling Squad Comparison

Despite the lacklustre performances in the last few matches, the RR bowling line-up is still one of the most experienced ones in this season. Trent Boult will spearhead the pace attack and has been quite successful in the powerplay overs.

Sandeep Sharma also became an x-factor with his slow medium pace. The Royals' spinner duo Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal also performed well throughout the season.

The batting-heavy RCB squad have to pay dearly for the comparatively weaker and less experienced bowling line-up. But in the last few matches, we have seen some confident displays by the RR pacers, Yash Dayal and Mohammed Siraj. In the spin department, Karn Sharma and Glenn Maxwell are also doing well.

IPL 2024 Eliminator RR vs RCB: Who Will Get Maximum Wickets in the Battle of Royals?

Yuzvendra Chahal (RR): The most successful bowler in IPL history with a wicket count of 204, seems to be slightly out of form in the last few matches. Yet the right-arm leg-spinner is the leading wicket-taker for RR this season with 17 wickets.

The 33-year-old Indian spinner will be the most dependable option for the Royals in the middle overs, especially against the in-form Rajat Patidar who has been brilliant against the spinner in recent matches.

Trent Boult (RR): The 34-year-old Kiwi pacer has 12 wickets so far. It will be the perfect platform for him to step up his game. Boult will be crucial against the star-studded RCB top-order batters like Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis.

Besides getting an early breakthrough, his left-arm medium-fast bowling will play a vital role against the heavily right-handed biassed RCB batting line-up.

Yash Dayal (RCB): From facing five sixes back-to-back to bowling a match-deciding last over against CSK, the 26-year-old Indian pacer came a long way.

Despite having a poor start, Dayal has stepped up and become an important cog in the RCB's fairytale comeback run. The left-arm medium-fast bowler has bagged 15 wickets this season and in the powerplay, he will be the main weapon against the RR lower middle order.

Mohammed Siraj (RCB): The 30-year-old right-arm medium-fast bowler has returned to his form at the right time of the campaign. His emergence along with Dayal played an important part in the Challengers' recent successes. Siraj has picked up 13 wickets so far and will be expected to deliver a fiery spell against the RR top order in the Eliminator.

RCB is entering the play-off with great confidence due to the recent successes, but for the Royals, the situation is completely opposite. The battle will be mainly between the fearsome batting line-up of RCB and the formidable bowling line-up of RR.

In the Qualifier-1, the venue provided enough bounces which helped both pacers and batters. Hence, a high-scoring battle can be expected from this do-or-die battle between the clash of the Royals.
