IPL 2024 Playoff Scenario: The ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season is entering its business end and the latest developments has added the thrill to this edition.
Kolkata Knight Riders remain on top of the IPL 2024 points table with 16 points in 11 matches. Rajasthan Royals have the same amount of points in same number of games, but their NRR is inferior to KKR as they sit 2nd. Sunrisers Hyderabad currently occupy the 3rd spot with 14 points. Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants - all are currently stationed with 12 points.

GT vs CSK: Gujarat Titans registered a magnificent victory over Chennai Super Kings by 35 runs. Both Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan scored centuries in the match. With the victory, the Titans keep their playoff hopes alive.
Mumbai Indians (MI) currently sit 9th in the table with 8 points in 12 matches but they are eliminated of the IPL 2024 as SRH secured a victory over LSG. The Paltans can reach 12 points at max, which won't be enough for the qualification.
After their defeat at the hands of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Punjab Kings are now the second team to be eliminated from the IPL 2024. It has been yet another disappointing campaign for the Kings who have now failed to qualify for the last four in this price tournament for the 10th season in a row.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are still contenders for a playoff spot despite being in a precarious position. RCB took a gigantic leap in the points table after a win against Punjab Kings in their last match and now sit 7th with 10 points to their name.
With two matches to go, Bengaluru will have to win the matches to have an outside chance for qualification. RCB will take on Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings in the season.
If CSK lose their three matches and LSG lose against Mumbai, RCB winning their two matches can open up a place for their in the playoffs.
Kolkata Knight Riders secured a huge victory over LSG and that has taken them to the top of the table. The win meant KKR now has 8 wins in 11 matches and are on top of the table.
They will get closer to the Top Two spots if they win their next two matches. And for now, we can't safely say that Knight Riders have qualified for the playoffs, but they are close to the elusive qualification status, especially with their excellent Net Run Rate.
Rajasthan Royals suffered a defeat at the hands of Delhi Capitals to further intensify the playoff race. RR still appears to be in a relatively comfortable position with 16 points from 11 games but their situation is not entirely secure. Behind the Royals, there are teams queueing up though as four teams are sitting on 12 points.
RR will have to win two of their last three matches to finish in top two of the points table.
Chennai Super Kings have 12 points in 12 matches. The defeat against Gujarat Titans is a massive blow for the Yellow Army.
CSK's next two matches are against Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and will have to win both of them to ensure qualification. As they hold a comparatively healthier NRR, qualification won't be an issue if they manage to win their remaining two matches.
CSK can qualify with one victory as well, but in that case-
Lucknow Super Giants have 12 points in 12 matches. The defeat against SRH means their playoff hopes are in jeopardy. KL Rahul and his team will have to win their next two matches and will need either CSK or SRH to slip to have a chance for qualification.
If Lucknow Super Giants beat Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians, and Sunrisers Hyderabad or Chennai Super Kings lose their two matches, then KL Rahul and his team will be through to the playoffs.
Sunrisers Hyderabad have 14 points in 12 matches and the win over LSG has taken them to the 3rd spot in the table. They have also boosted the NRR with the victory.
SRH's next match against Gujarat Titans is of paramount importance and a win can almost stamp their qualification assurance, especially after Chennai's defeat at the hands of Gujarat Titans.
GT won against Chennai Super Kings, which has kept their playoff hopes alive. Although the chances are bleak, they will live on for another day. The Titans will teams above them to lose their matches while they will have to win their matches as well.
With 12 points in 12 matches, Delhi Capitals are still in the hunt. They have a chance now to give a crack at the playoff race. The Capitals only have two more matches and they will have to win both of them.
They have matches against RCB and LSG. Even if the Capitals win both of their matches, their qualification is not guaranteed as SRH beat LSG and the Hyderabad outfit have the destiny in their own hands now.
