The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Playoffs is scheduled to take place at the back end of May following the completion of the league stage and the four matches will be staged across two venues.
Like previous editions, the top four will progress to the playoffs and will play respective fixtures based on where they finish in the IPL 2024 points table. Four matches will be played in the playoff stages - Qualifier 1, Eliminator, Qualifier 2 and then the all important final.

The first and second placed teams will play the Qualifier 1 which gives them a second shot at making the final even if they lose as they will play the winner of the Eliminator in Qualifier 2. The Eliminator will feature the third and fourth placed teams.
The IPL 2024 is a 10-team tournament, making it harder for teams even finishing on 16 points from 14 matches to progress to the playoff stages, meaning the Net Run Rate (NRR) will play a crucial role in deciding the final four.
As of May 19, Kolkata Knight Riders finished as the top-placed team with 19 points from 13 matches, while Sunrisers Hyderabad (17 points from 14 matches) edged Rajasthan Royals (17 points from 14 matches) to second place due to better Net Run Rate (NRR).
Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (14 points from 14 matches) sealed the final playoff spot after beating Chennai Super Kings (14 points from 14 matches) with a better Net Run Rate (NRR).
Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants, Gujarat Titans, Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings, however, are out of contention from reaching the playoffs. Here is the current IPL 2024 Points Table after match 70 on May 19:
