IPL 2024 Purple Cap Winner: Punjab Kings (PBKS) pacer Harshal Patel won the Purple Cap for picking the most wickets in IPL 2024. The right-arm pacer, who won the Purple Cap with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in 2021, picked 24 wickets in 14 matches at an average of 19.87 and an economy rate of 9.73.
Ahead of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) IPL 2024 final at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday (May 26), leg-spinner Varun Chakravarthy needed five scalps to snatch the honour from Harshal. However, the KKR tweaker could pick only one wicket and settled with 21 wickets in 15 matches at an average of 19.14, and an economy rate of 8.04.

Mumbai Indians pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who is now in the USA for the the T20 World Cup 2024 finished third on the list of highest wicket-takers in the IPL 2024. He picked 20 wickets in 13 matches at an average of 16.80 and a strike rate of 6.48.
Andre Russell was mighty impressive in the IPL 2024 final and registered figures of 3/19 in 2.3 overs to take his wicket tally of 19 in 15 matches at an average of 15.52 and an economy of 10.05. His uncapped teammate Harshit Rana also chipped in with two wickets on the night of final to register 19 scalps in the IPL 2024.
SRH speedster T Natarajan also impressed with 19 wickets in 14 matches at an average of 24.47, and an economy rate of 9.05. His Punjab Kings (PBKS) counterpart Arshdeep Singh also finished his IPL 2024 campaign with 19 scalps at an average of 26.57, and a strike rate of 10.03.
Rajasthan Royals' Avesh Khan was the fifth and final bowler to take 19 wickets in the season. He picked those wickets at an average of 27.68, and a strike rate of 9.59.
RR spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was once again in the list of leading wicket-takers in the IPL. He picked 18 wickets in 15 matches at an average of 30.33, and a strike rate of 9.41. While Chahal and Arshdeep are in India's 15-member T20 World Cup squad, Avesh Khan has been named as one of the four travelling reserves. Khaleel Ahmed of Delhi Capitals is another pacer in the reserves list. He picked 17 wickets for Delhi Capitals.
