Kolkata Knight Riders batter Ramandeep Singh has been brandished a penalty for his actions during the IPL 2024 clash against Mumbai Indians on Saturday (May 11).
Singh breached an IPL code of conduct and now has been fined 20 per cent of his match fee.

This was after he admitted to violating the IPL Code of Conduct, specifically under Article 2.20. Ramandeep was charged with a Level 1 offence and his acceptance of the sanction, as decided by the Match Referee, closes the case on this matter.
The IPL made it clear in their statement that for Level 1 breaches like Singh's, the Match Referee's decision is absolute.
The breach involves actions outside normal cricket activities, such as damage to property, which can occur even though accidental yet negligent behaviour. If Ramandeep repeats the mistake, he will be handed a ban.
The Article 2.20 of the IPL Code of Conduct "includes any action(s) outside the course of normal cricket actions, such as hitting or kicking the wickets and any action(s) which deliberately (i.e. intentionally), recklessly or negligently (in either case even if accidental) results in damage to the advertising boards, boundary fences, dressing room doors, mirrors, windows and other fixtures and fittings. For example, this offence may be committed, without limitation, when a Player swings his/her bat vigorously in frustration and causes damage to an advertising board."
In the match that led to this incident, the Kolkata Knight Riders celebrated an 18-run victory over Mumbai Indians, despite the challenges posed by the weather. With the victory, KKR also became the first team to qualify for the playoffs this season. Ramandeep Singh also made a crucial contribution as he scored an unbeaten 17 off just 8 balls.
