IPL 2024: RCB create Two Never Seen Before Records after beating CSK

By MyKhel Staff

Royal Challengers Bengaluru pulled off a humongous achievement as they qualified for the IPL 2024 playoffs.

RCB beat Chennai Super Kings at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday by 27 runs and thus registered a place in the knockouts.

After a disastrous first half of the campaign, Faf du Plessis and his team showcased their mettle. Although it was looking impossible for Bengaluru to qualify for playoffs, they have beaten all the odds to rise from the ashes.

On Saturday, RCB survived the rain threat in Bengaluru and will now play the Eliminator on Wednesday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Along with their qualification, RCB have also etched their name with two new records in the IPL.

RCB first to qualify with One win in First Half of IPL

The win against Chennai Super Kings was RCB's sixth straight victory in the competition. In their first eight matches, Virat Kohli and the boys won only a solitary match. Upon qualifying, RCB have become the first team to get to the playoffs after winning just a solitary match in the first seven matches of an IPL season.

RCB register Consecutive Win and Loss Record

RCB have now also become the first team to win six consecutive matches and lose six consecutive matches in a single season of the IPL. After the first two matches, they had a win and a loss.

From their Match 3 to Match 8, RCB suffered defeats in all of them. But they turned things around miraculously by winning the next six matches of the IPL 2024 group stages.

Previously, Deccan Chargers (2010), Punjab Kings (2020) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (2022) lived the two extremes of the spectrum but all of them had five consecutive wins and losses in those aforementioned years.
