IPL 2024: Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Rishabh Pant has been suspended for a match and slapped with a fine of Rs 30 lakh ahead of his side's match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Sunday. The suspension comes after Delhi Capitals' third slow over-rate offence this season.
Delhi Capitals were 10 minutes behind time before the start of the 20th over against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Tuesday, May 7. The rest of the DC players - including the impact substitute - have been fined INR 12 Lakh or 50% of their match fee, whichever is lesser.

Considering their crucial clash against RCB, Delhi Capitals filed an appeal challenging the ruling of the match referee. The BCCI Ombudsman stepped in and conducted a virtual hearing and stated that the decision of the match referee was final and binding.
"As per Article 8 of the IPL Code of Conduct, the Delhi Capitals filed an appeal challenging the ruling of the Match Referee. Following this, the appeal was referred to the BCCI Ombudsman for review. The Ombudsman conducted a virtual hearing and affirmed that the decision of the Match Referee remains final and binding," the IPL release said on Saturday.
Delhi Capitals are currently placed fifth in the IPL 2024 points table with six wins in 12 matches. Delhi, fourth-placed Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and sixth-placed Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have 12 points each. These three teams have two league games left, and are battling hard to finish in the top four and ascertain a playoffs berth.
Rishabh Pant is Delhi's leading run-scorer in the IPL 2024. He has scored 413 runs in 12 matches at an average of 41.30.
