Former Mumbai Indians pacer Praveen Kumar has criticized the decision of Mumbai Indians to make Hardik Pandya captain for the IPL 2024 season.
Hardik Pandya made a comeback to the Paltans ahead of IPL 2024, and he has been appointed as the captain of Mumbai, replacing Rohit Sharma. Pandya captained Gujarat Titans to an IPL title in 2022, and then took them to the Final in 2023 as well.

Recently, Praveen Kumar was asked about the decision of making Hardik as captain, and the former India player opined strongly against it, while taking a dig at Pandya as well.
"Do mahine pehle aap khelte nahi ho. IPL se do machine aapko chot laag jaate hain. Country ke liye khelte nahi hain, aapne state ke liye khelte nahi hain.. sidha baas IPL khelna hain. Aise nahi, theek hain paisa kamao, achhi baat hain.. lekin pradesh ke liye bhi to khelna padhega. Sabko IPL IPL laagi hui hain, ke IPL khel jaaun..(You got injured two months before the IPL, you don't play for the country, you don't play for your state in domestic cricket, and just directly play in the IPL. That's not how things should be done. It's okay to earn money, there's nothing wrong with that. But you have to play for state and country and now people only give importance to the IPL)", Praveen Kumar said.
He also confirmed that Rohit Sharma could have captained Mumbai at least two or three years more but the team management of the Mumbai Indians took a call on it.
