Gujarat Titans (GT) batter Sai Sudharsan on Friday (May 10) broke legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar's record for the fastest India player to score 1000 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Sudharsan achieved the landmark with his maiden century during GT's 35-run victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in match 59 of IPL 2024 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The 22-year-old took just 25 innings to reach the 1000 IPL runs. While Tendulkar took 31 innings to etch his name on the record book. Earlier, Ruturaj Gaikwad also crossed 1000 runs in 31 innings.
Sudharsan has scored 1034 runs at a strike rate of 139.17 in 25 innings. His 103-run knock from 51 balls included 7 sixes and 5 fours. By completing 1000 runs in 25 innings, Sudharsan also became the joint third fastest to the landmark. Here is a look at the top 10:
Going by the above list, Sudharsan ecilipsed the likes of Chris Gayle and several other IPL legends by reaching the 1000-run landmark in 25 innings. He reached the feat only behind Shaun Marsh and Lendl Simmons.
Coming back to the match, Sudharsan shared a record-equalling opening partnership of 210 with skipper Shubman Gill (104 off 55 balls) to take GT to 231/3 in their allotted 20 overs.
In response, CSK lost their way early, but Daryl Mitchell (63), and Moeen Ali (56) gave some hope to the Chennai-based franchise until Mohit Sharma was introduced into the attack and removed the two set batters.
Mohit then also removed the dangerous Shivam Dube to finish with figures of 3 for 31 in his four overs as GT restricted CSK to 196/8 in their allotted 20 overs, denting their playoff hopes.
