IPL 2024 Schedule till April 7: The Board of Control for Cricket in India on Thursday, February 22, annoucned the IPL 2024 schedule for the first 17 days (21 matches).

Defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be the IPL 2024 tournament opener against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Friday, March 22 in Chennai. The much-anticipated Mumbai Indians (MI) match against Gujarat Titans (GT) will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

IPL 2024 schedule Live: First 10-15 days fixtures to be announced

The BCCI is set to announce the IPL 2024 fixtures for the first 10-15 days at 5 PM on Thursday, February 22.

Earlier, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal had confirmed that the schedule for the first 10-15 days will be announced initially to avoid a situation where they have to reschedule matches due to the clashing of election dates in a specific region. BCCI is looking to finalise the venues once the phased-wise dates of the Lok Sabha elections are out.

“It takes a lot of logistical challenges to change the venue at the last moment, lot of machinery work behind the scenes, and they need time to conduct each IPL game. So we thought let’s wait and announce only the first few games scheduled. We will announce the complete schedule once we get a clear picture of which state will be holding elections on specific dates," Dhumal told The Indian Express.

With the T20 World Cup 2024 scheduled to start from June 1, it's very likely that the final will be held on Sunday, May 26. Defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) should very likely face runners-up Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2024 opener.
