IPL 2024: Shubman Gill tells Ed Sheeran to ask Shah Rukh Khan the Question all KKR Fans want to Ask

Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill told Ed Sheeran to ask Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner Shah Rukh Khan a specific question during their meet a few days ago.

The British singer Ed Sheeran came to visit India and met with a lot of Indian players and other celebrities.

Sheeran had a chat with Tanmay Bhatt and Shubman Gill once and the video of that interaction emerged where Gill was seen telling Ed Sheeran to ask Shah Rukh Khan a question.

Ed Sheeran was supposed to meet Shah Rukh Khan for a dinner, and when Gill heard that, the GT captain said that he used to play for Shar Rukh Khan's team in the IPL. Sheeran was surprised to know the Bollywood star owns a cricket franchise, and then Gill asked Ed Sheeran to ask SRK why the Knight Riders let Gill go.

"Ask him, why they didn't retain me," Gill said to Ed Sheeran. The trio burst out in laughter after that.

Although it was done in a light mood, this is a question which has roamed in the KKR faithful's mind since the Knight Riders let the player go.

Gill joined the Knight Riders in IPL 2018 and had four excellent seasons with the Kolkata team. He was a prolific batter and scored a stack of runs before KKR released him in the IPL 2022 mega auction.

KKR had the option to retain four players, and they retained two Indian and two overseas players. Andre Russell and Sunil Narine were retained while Venkatesh Iyer and Varun Chakravarthy were KKR's India picks.

Gill has gone on to become an international star since then. The Indian batter cemented his place in the Indian team across all formats and had an excellent outing for the national team over the past couple of years.

In the IPL, Gill was part of the Gujarat Titans team which won the IPL in 2022 and then were the beaten finalists in 2023. On the other hand, KKR failed to qualify for the playoffs in the last two seasons. Hence, the question has often come to KKR's mind on the reason for the baffling decision to let Gill go.
