IPL 2024: Prasidh Krishna has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, a BCCI release confirmed on Tuesday, March 12. The 28-year-old missed the IPL 2023 as well due to a lumbar spine injury.
The Karnataka bowler sat out for almost over a year due to the same reason, and made his return with India's T20I series against Ireland in August last year.

Prasidh Krishna was part of India's Asia Cup 2023 squad following ODI series against Australia, but did not get in the team for the World Cup 2023. He made his Test debut during the South Africa tour, but could pick just two wickets in two matches.
He last played in early January, for Karnataka against Gujarat in the Ranji Trophy 2023-24, and was injured during the first innings after picking two wickets for 62 in 14.5 overs.
“The fast bowler underwent surgery on February 23rd, 2024, on his left proximal quadriceps tendon. He is currently being monitored by the BCCI Medical Team and will resume rehab at the National Cricket Academy soon. He will not be able to take part in the upcoming TATA IPL 2024,” the statement from BCCI read.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) was bought for Rs 10 crore ahead of the IPL 2022 in which he picked 19 wickets in 17 matches. Royals had replaced Prasidh with the vastly experienced Sandeep Sharma in IPL 2023. He was retained by the franchise for the 2024 season as well, however a replacement will have to be named soon.
Matt Henry: The 32-year-old New Zealand pacer was left unsold in the IPL 2024 auction despite putting himself in a base price category of Rs 75 lakh. 95
Matt Henry has been one of the quality bowlers for New Zealand over the years. He has picked 95 wickets in 25 Tests, 141 in 82 ODIs, and 20 wickets in 17 T20Is.
Overall, Matt Henry has picked a total of 151 wickets in 131 T20 games. Henry has over 450 wickets in first-class cricket, and is a bowler known for his pace and accuracy. He can emerge as a very good edition for Rajasthan Royals.
Tim Southee: The New Zealand veteran is one other bowler who can easily get diluted in the Rajasthan Royals bowling set up. His compatriot Trent Boult is already part of the franchise.
Southee was left unsold in the IPL 2024 auction after he kept himself in the Rs 1.5 crore base prize category. He played for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL 2022 and 2023. His experience can come very handy for the Royals.
Tymal Mills: The 31-year-old left-arm England pacer is currently playing for Islamabad United. He is already used to the subcontinent condition and his inclusion can emerge as a good addition for the Rajasthan Royals (RR).
He recently picked 3/34 runs in a must-win game for Islamabad against Karachi Kings. Mills last played in the IPL for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2022. He had a base price of Rs 1.5 crore in the IPL 2024 auction. Tymal Mills has featured in a total of 205 T20 matches and picked 143 wickets at an average of 23.79.
Note: In case Rajasthan Royals are looking for domestic pace options, Basil Thampi from Kerala and Ishan Porel from West Bengal can be two good options.
