IPL 2024: Three Teams KL Rahul may join if he leaves Lucknow Super Giants

KL Rahul's stint with the Lucknow Super Giants may come to an end ahead of next season in the IPL.

After their recent drubbing at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rahul was at the receiving end of a mouthful from LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka. The public admonishment from Goenka has been widely criticized as fans pointed out blatant unprofessionalism from the business tycoon.

KL Rahul

And the reports have now emerged that Rahul is likely to be released ahead of next season. LSG invested a monumental sum of Rs 17 crore in Rahul in 2022, but they are more than open to offloading the 32-year-old after this season.

It is also being understood that the recent meltdown from Goenka has burnt the bridge for both parties. KL Rahul, being a senior India cricketer, must have felt utterly offended after being confronted in front of the ubiquitous cameras, and is now expected to leave.

As KL Rahul looks poised to exit Lucknow Super Giants, here are three teams which can come up as pragmatic destinations for him-

Gujarat Titans

Gujarat Titans will be a perfect destination for KL Rahul to take the next chapter in IPL. With Wriddhiman Saha in the twilight of his career, Rahul can fit in as the wicketkeeper-batter in the team, or even can lead the team. The current captain, Shubman Gill, didn't have the best of times leading the team this season. And Rahul can take up the role next year.

Kolkata Knight Riders

For KL Rahul, Kolkata Knight Riders will be yet another fantastic next chapter. With no Indian wicketkeeper at the moment, Rahul can be their man with the gloves and a solid opening or middle-order batter. Although the Knights do have Sunil Narine and Phil Salt, KL Rahul can always slot in with the opening role in the coming years.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru

RCB is going to be in the hunt for KL Rahul next season. The Indian batter recently revealed his emotion and love for the franchise, and in a perfect world, we may see a reunion. Rahul started his IPL career with Bengaluru, and would be the apt person to take over the captaincy baton from Faf du Plessis. In the upcoming auction, RCB is expected to offload a lot of current players and a chunk of the purse can be fixated on KL Rahul.
