An unnamed player has been accused of disrespecting the game of cricket by not following protocols and then damaging property before an IPL 2024 match.
A report from CricBlogger, owned by senior journalist Indranil Basu, has shocked the cricket world, which has depicted the degrading act by a player who tried to break the rules and then went on to rampage after not getting things in his own way.

A cricketer, whose actions deviated from the expected norms of behaviour, created a disturbance after being informed he could not use the pitches next to the main square for practice in an IPL stadium.
BCCI rules allow IPL teams to practice match simulations only a day before the actual game, a policy the player in question refused to accept. The curator denied the player access to those pitches and his response to being thwarted was to damage a water dispenser placed in the net area for players, breaking it into pieces.
This act of vandalism was met with severe disapproval from the association officials, who filed an official complaint with the BCCI. The franchise was issued a notice by the BCCI, leading to the team owners issuing a written apology to resolve the matter.
"This is extremely degrading for us to see the way some of the players are behaving on and off. Someone needs to tell them that they have to abide by the rules and regulations of BCCI. If the curators are following protocols, the players also need to follow them diligently," a source was quoted as saying by CricBlogger.
Sadly, this is not the first as players have been accused of breaking glass and dressing room equipment to vent their frustration. There have been instances where top Indian cricketers were fined for their actions against cricket equipment and public dissent.
This pattern of behaviour underscores a critical need for a solution to address and prevent such conduct in the future. It is to be seen if BCCI takes any internal action against the accused player in coming days.
