Virat Kohli scripted history for Royal Challengers Bengaluru during their IPL 2024 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday (April 25).
The RCB stalwart scored 51 runs in 43 balls and in doing so, became the first batter in IPL history to score 400 and more runs for ten seasons.

Kohli has been playing the IPL since its inaugural season in 2008 and has been representing RCB all his life. He has scored 430 runs in nine innings so far and has overall 7,693 runs in his IPL career, with 8 centuries and 53 half-centuries to his name.
The India stalwart's best season came in the 2016 edition of IPL when he scored 973 runs in 16 matches and scored four centuries. RCB reached the final that year but lost against SRH. The 35-year-old got to his first 400 and beyond season in 2011, when he scored 557 runs in IPL 2011.
Among the years when Kohli has scored 400 runs, the player has the 2nd highest strike rate so far this year.
Out of the seasons when Kohli couldn't score more than 400 runs, he scored at least 150 and more runs in those seasons. In the last ten seasons of IPL (including 2024), the RCB stalwart hasn't reached the 400 mark only twice, which happened in 2017 (308 runs) and 2022 (341 runs).
