Former India batter Virender Sehwag has made a blunt assessment of the ongoing IPL 2024 and has identified an India player who may not find an IPL team next season.
A mega auction is set to be held before the IPL 2025 and many players will change their sides after that. Although the retention number is still not confirmed, many of the fringe players will be released by franchises.

India's veteran Ravichandran Ashwin is playing for Rajasthan Royals this season but has been enduring a poor season as per Ashwin standards. Although RR are flying on top of the table, Ashwin's performance has been underwhelming.
The off-spinner has played 8 matches so far and has just 2 wickets to his name. Ashwin as conceded at a rate of 9 runs per over and has gone wicketless in six innings. This uncharacteristic return from Ashwin can hamper him from getting a team next season, reckons Sehwag.
The former India player advised Ashwin to bowl for picking up wickets, rather than just dot balls.
"When that happens, when you bowl your overs for 6-7 runs, it becomes tougher for other bowlers with a set batter still in the middle. They aren't as smart as you are. They can't escape like you do. So they will get peppered for more runs. So it's better that you bowl to get the wickets, not for dot balls. That's my opinion. You have so much experience, you should look to get the wickets. Not to escape from getting hit," Sehwag was quoted as saying by Insidesport.
"Maybe if he believes in his off spin or doosra, he can bag more wickets. But that's his mindset. But if I were a mentor or a coach of a franchise, I wouldn't think like that. If my bowler is thinking about saving runs and not taking wickets, he won't find a place in the team," Sehwag concluded.
Ashwin travelled to the World Cup in the last edition but is not in the contention to make it this time around.
