IPL 2024: Which Country Would have Jasprit Bumrah played for had he left India?

Jasprit Bumrah has risen to become one of the modern-day great bowlers as the Indian pacer has showcased his skills across all formats.

But in a recent interview, Bumrah revealed how one decision from his mother changed his life and stopped him from moving abroad. Bumrah, along with his wife Sanjana Ganesan, spoke in an interview with JioCinema where he opened up on his potential move to a different country.

Bumrah rose through the ranks in domestic cricket but the player thought of going to Canada with his family. The player revealed his family considered getting to Canada and the Indian pacer would have had a different career as a backup.

During the interview, Bumrah's wife Sanjana asked, "You wanted to go to Canada and set up a new life there?"

"We have had these conversations before. Every boy wants to make it big and play cricket. Every street has 25 players who want to play for India. You have to have a backup plan. Our relatives live there. I thought I will finish my education and move there as my uncle lives there," Bumrah said.

The pacer also revealed it was his mother's service that halted Bumrah and his family from relocating to Canada.

"First we thought we would go as a family, then my mom had become a school principal and did not want to go there as it's a different place to go in, a different culture. I am very happy and very lucky that things worked out. Otherwise, I don't know I would have tried to play for the Canadian team and do something there as well. Glad it worked out here. I am playing for the Indian team and Mumbai Indians," he added.
