The IPL 2024 has brought about a new mode of playing T20 cricket as we are witnessing runs galore in the tournament.
The players have taken power hitting to a new level as they are swinging their blades from the very first ball. Generally, the powerplay is the biggest friend of a batter.

A powerplay is the First Six overs of an innings, when the fielding team is only allowed two players outside the 30-yard circle. And players have taken full advantage of it.
Teams have gone at a breakneck speed. We saw Sunrisers Hyderabad scoring 125 runs in the first six overs, which epitomizes the brutal batting display in this edition of the tournament.
Generally, the 6th over is considered as the over when a batting team goes berserk. As it is the final over of the powerplay, the players try to make the most of the fielding restrictions and try to score most of the runs. Hence the usual perception is that the 6th over yields the most amount of runs.
But during the LSG vs KKR match on Sunday (May 5), it was revealed by one of the commentators that 6th over is not the most expensive powerplay over in IPL 2024. Instead, it is the 3rd over which has conceded the most number of runs this season.
Ravi Shastri, one of the co-commentators also explained the reason behind it. He stated that the batters take a sighter in the first two overs and then go berserk in the 3rd, which makes it the most expensive over.
