It's two weeks since the beginning of the IPL 2024 and the past week has witnessed some remarkable performances from some of the franchises who have left their mark early in the season and presented themselves as an early contender for the title.

Surprisingly, none of the three teams, despite having three IPL titles between them, are traditional contenders for the title and were not among bookies' favourites too. However, their recent performances are going to change that. MyKhel takes a look at the top three franchises that surprised the most.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)

KKR asserted their dominance with two consecutive wins, propelling them to the top of the table with three wins in as many games. Following some brisk hitting by Sunil Narine (85 runs off 39 balls) and unheralded Angkrish Raghuvanshi, the franchise posted a mammoth 272. Their bowlers took over from where they left as the likes of Vaibhav Arora, Mitchell Starc and Varun Chakraborty delivered to their potential.

Rajasthan Royals

After winning two of their matches in the opening week with some command, Rajasthan Royals trumped five times and yet struggling Mumbai Indians with a comprehensive victory. Trent Boult's early strikes rattled the Mumbai batting lineup, setting the tone for a dominant bowling display. Yuzvendra Chahal's precision in the middle overs further dented Mumbai's hopes of a resurgence.

Riyan Parag, a revelation in the new season, continued his heroics with an unbeaten half-century that ensured a smooth chase.
