IPL 2024: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is set to start from Friday, March 22 and five-time champions (MI) will take on Gujarat Titans (GT) in the fifth match on Sunday, March 24 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Let's see the list of players who can take most runs and pick most wickets for MI.

IPL 2024: Three players who can score most runs for Mumba Indians (MI)

Rohit Sharma: Former Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma scored over 400 runs in a season five years ago in 2019. Rohit has averaged 20.75 and 19.14 in his last two seasons respectively.

There has been a lot of noise after the removal of Rohit as MI captain. BCCI secretary Jay Shah, on the other hand, has declared Rohit the India captain for T20 World Cup 2024. Rohit has a point to prove, and the hitman is very likely to respond handsomely with his bat. Rohit recently hit a record fifth T20I hundred in January.

Hardik Pandya: After successfully leading Gujarat Titans (GT) in the last two years, the star all-rounder has returned to lead Mumbai Indians. In IPL 2023, Hardik Pandya scored 346 runs in 16 matches at an average of 31.45 and a strike rate of 136.75. In 2022, he scored 487 runs at an average of 44.27 and a strike rate of 131.27.

Only once had Hardik surpassed the 300-run mark since his IPL debut in 2015. The right-hand batter has flourished with the bat as captain. With a point to prove on his MI comeback, expect the flamboyant batter to pile up loads of runs.

Suryakumar Yadav: The stylish batter was Mumbai Indians' leading run-scorer in the IPL 2023. He scored 605 runs in 16 matches at an average of 43.21 and a strike rate of 181.13.

Having sat out with an injury since December 2022, Suryakumar would be hungry to get on the park. The 33-year-old would also bring up his A-game in lead to the T20 World Cup 2024 which starts from June 1. A sensational season with the bat is expected from the Mumbai right-hander.

IPL 2024: Three players who can pick most wickets for Mumbai Indians (MI)

Jasprit Bumrah: The pace spearhead has been a force to reckon over the years for Mumbai Indians and India. He did not play in the IPL 2023 due to a back injury and Mumbai felt the void.

He picked 15 wickets in IPL 2022, and 21, 27, 19, 17 and 20 wickets in the previous five seasons. Like Hardik, Rohit and Suryakumar Yadav, the 30-year-old would also look for a perfect dress-rehearsal opportunity ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024.

Piyush Chawla: The veteran leg-spinner emerged as the leading wicket-taker for Mumbai Indians last season. He picked 22 wickets in 16 matches and finished as the fourth-highest wicket-taker.

Chawla had a forgettable 2019, 2020, and 2021 season. He did not play in the IPL 2022. Having bounced back from oblivion, the Aligarh-born cricketer will look to make sure that he makes heads turn again.

Gerald Coetzee: The South Africa pace sensation was bought for Rs 5 crore by the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2024 auction. He was the joint fourth-highest wicket-taker in the World Cup 2023. He picked 20 wickets in just eight matches at an average of 19.8. Bumrah picked as many wickets in 11 matches.

The speed merchant carries the swagger of Dale Steyn and has already made an all-format debut for South Africa. He picked three wickets for 32 runs in his last T20I match which was against India in December. Overall, the 23-year-old has picked 60 wickets in 42 matches at an average of 19.05 and an economy rate of 8.08.
