Royal Challengers Bengaluru's net bowler Mahesh Kumar has caught the eye of cricket fans and pundits alike for his striking similarity in bowling style to Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah.
Videos of Kumar's bowling showcasing his Bumrah-like action have gone viral on social media.

Kumar, who previously worked with the Gujarat Titans during the 2022 season, has now joined the RCB for IPL 2024. Notably, his ability to accurately target the leg stump has been highlighted as a key strength. His action and run-up has a striking similarity with India's speedster Jasprit Bumrah.
Mahesh Kumar has worked as Net Bowler for various teams. He started with the Indian team back in 2017, and then has gone on to bowl in the nets for KKR, GT and now RCB.
The similarity of Mahesh's delivery with Bumrah doesn't end with just the delivery. Kumar's approach to the crease, characterized by a slow walk followed by a series of low hops, and his high-arm release, closely resembles Bumrah's iconic style. This unorthodox method has not only made waves on social media but has also captured the attention of cricketing experts and coaches.
Kumar has worked alongside GT coach Ashish Nehra, and impressed Jacques Kallis during his time with Kolkata Knight Riders.
Despite his popularity and the critical acclaim for his bowling style, Kumar has yet to make his debut in an IPL match. Yet, the buzz created by his Bumrah-like action on social media could very well pave the way for his inclusion in one of the IPL teams in the future.
