Yudhvir Singh became the first concussion substitute in IPL 2024 history as the Lucknow Super Giants bowler came on as a substitute for Mohsin Khan in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday (May 5).
Mohsin Khan sustained a head injury while making a dive to catch the ball of a Sunil Narine shot. Unfortunately, his head hit the ground first, leading to visible discomfort. Following a concussion assessment, it was decided that Mohsin would withdraw from the match.

Yudhvir Singh stepped in as his replacement and made an immediate impact by taking Angkrish Raghuvanshi's wicket with his very first delivery.
The concussion substitute was introduced recently in cricket and Australia's Marnus Labuschagne was the first across formats to come on as a concussion substitute. Pakistan's Usama Mir was the first player to arrive as a concussion substitute in the World Cup last year when he substituted for Shadab Khan.
Despite using a concussion substitute, Lucknow Super Giants retain the option to introduce an Impact Player during their batting phase. The utilization of a concussion substitute does not affect the team's ability to bring an Impact Player into the game, as per the regulations.
With his arrival, the LSG pacer Yudhvir Singh becomes the 2nd player to come on as a substitute in IPL.
Mumbai Indians player Vishnu Vinod became the first player to come on as a Concussion Substitute in the IPL.
The Kerala batter had to be introduced for Ishan Kishan in IPL 2023 in the Qualifier 2 match against Gujarat Titans. He batted for MI and scored 5 runs. MI also introduced Nehal Wadhera as an Impact Player in that match.
