Shreyas Iyer's fresh injury woes can become a concerning news for Kolkata Knight Riders.
The Indian batter is reportedly ruled out of the last three Test matches against England due to aggravated back pain.

The back issue has been troubling Shreyas Iyer since 2023. Last year, during the Australia Test series, Iyer suffered a back injury and subsequently had to undergo surgery.
The batter missed IPL 2023 for Kolkata Knight Riders and it was a big blow for them. And as the IPL 2024 is around the corner, the same story can be another troubling one for Kolkata Knight Riders who may miss their captain if the injury is serious and requires a longer recovery time.
Despite being six weeks away from the start of IPL 2024, KKR may already have a backup plan if they are to miss Shreyas Iyer for a part of the season. Here are three players who can lead KKR in the upcoming season-
Sunil Narine is an option to lead KKR in IPL 2024. The West Indies veteran has been leading the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in ILT20 and can lead KKR in the IPL. His calmness, composure and class bring a lot to the table and the Knight Riders management can try the mystery spinner in the IPL.
The obvious option suggests Nitish Rana, who led KKR last season in Shreyas Iyer's absence. Rana had his wobbly moments as captain but he is a candidate KKR may resort to if Iyer fails to get fit.
Rana is a person with decent man-management skills and is also captaining Uttar Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy this season. With his prior experience as captain in the IPL, Rana can be the safe bet for the Knight Riders in this IPL season.
KKR are known to take bold decisions on the auction table and in the field. After their record-breaking IPL deal for Mitchell Starc, will KKR hand the captaincy baton to the Australian? It is a big ask but the pacer can be an option for them. Starc hasn't been a captain at international level for Australia, but his cast experience in the game can prove fruitful for the Knight Riders.
