Dinesh Karthik, the Indian wicketkeeper-batter currently playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru is a stalwart in Indian Cricket and also in the IPL history. RCB in the quest for their first trophy are looking forward to his experience with both bat and gloves.
He is one of the few players who has played in all the previous editions of IPL. In the last season, he failed to meet the standard expected of him. So, IPL 2024 going to be his last chance to display his capability to the world.

Karthik made his IPL debut in 2008 with Delhi Daredevils (Now Delhi Capitals). Since then he played 242 matches in his IPL career and has scored 4516 runs, with an average of 25.81. He has represented six teams in the league and scored 20 half-centuries on the way. His performance behind the wicket is also enviable as he has taken 141 catches and stumped opponents 36 times in his IPL career.
In 2022 he joined RCB for the second time and presented a remarkable performance with 330 runs in 16 matches with an average of 55 and a stunning strike rate of 183.33.
Throughout the IPL history, RCB has remained a batting-heavy team. In this season also, the top order of the RCB batting order contains big names like Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis. But in the middle order except Glenn Maxwell, the absence of experienced players is evident as most of the players are on the younger side with lesser exposure to IPL or international cricket.
This is why the 39-year-old veteran is going to be crucial for the Challengers this season. With such colossal batting experience, the former KKR captain will be instrumental in handling the pressure if the star-studded top order of RCB somehow goes wrong. Karthik will be pivotal in providing depth to the batting order as well. Also as the first-choice wicketkeeper of the team, he has to be finely tuned to provide support from behind the wicket.
For Karthik, this will be the last occasion to play in IPL as he is set to retire after this campaign. In IPL 2023, DK scored just 140 with an average of 11.67. Hence, the onus will be on the veteran to end his IPL career on a high.
