MS Dhoni has been batting with flair this season. The Chennai Super Kings star is finding the fence in regular intervals and scoring at a rapid rate.
But Dhoni has faced a very less number deliveries this season. He has also demoted himself in the order. The CSK player batted at no. 9 against Punjab Kings, which garnered a lot of debates.

Experts across the world believe Dhoni can be much more effective if he bats up in the order as that will give him a bit more deliveries. Dhoni's decision to come later than Shardul Thakur against Punjab Kings was criticized by former players.
However, it has emerged that Dhoni's decision is not a matter of choice but necessity. Reports have revealed that the former CSK captain has been grappling with a muscle tear in his leg throughout the IPL season. This injury severely limits his ability to run, explaining his hesitation to bat higher up the order. The situation is so dire that Dhoni, aged 42, avoids running entirely during practice sessions, focusing solely on his batting.
The injury crisis within CSK has forced Dhoni to continue playing despite doctors' advice to rest. The team's alternative wicketkeeper, Devon Conway, is also sidelined due to injury, leaving Dhoni with little choice but to soldier on.
Dhoni's commitment extends beyond his own performance. He has been a mentor to new captain Ruturaj Gaikwad. Despite the challenges, there is strong support for Gaikwad's leadership within the team. "He is giving his best and we believe we will go much beyond just making the play-offs," a CSK source was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
Dhoni has been soldiering on in this IPL 2024, which may be the swansong for the Indian veteran. CSK are currently placed 3rd in the points table with 12 points in 11 matches.
