IPL 2024: Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Rishabh Pant was slapped with a Rs 12 lakh fine for maintaining a slow over rate during the Indian Premier League (IPL) Match 13 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
Delhi Capitals pulled off a comfortable 20-run win over defending champion CSK on Sunday. MS Dhoni turned back the clock with unbeaten 37 runs off 16 balls, but Chennai fell 20 runs short of the 192-run target.

“Rishabh Pant, the Delhi Capitals captain, has been fined after his team maintained a slow over rate during their IPL match against Chennai Super Kings,” an IPL statement read.
“As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences, Pant was fined Rs 12 lakhs,” it added.
Openers Prithvi Shaw (43) and David Warner (52) provided a solid start to the team, stitching a 93-run stand off just 54 balls. Rishabh Pant later scored 51 runs off 32 balls to provide the final flurry to post a challenging target. The innings consisted of four boundaries, and three sixes.
Delhi Capitals bowling unit, especially pacers Khaleel Ahmed and Mukesh Kumar, then rattled the CSK batters and despite MS Dhoni’s cracking 16-ball 37 not out, the defending champions suffered their first loss of the season. The win on Sunday was Delhi Capitals’ first in the IPL 2024 season.
Delhi lost their first game against Punjab Kings (PBKS) by four wickets, and then lost to Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 12 runs. They will play against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Vizag on Wednesday, April 3.
