Punjab Kings' stand-in skipper Sam Curran was punished severely following his team's defeat to Gujarat Titans in match 37 of IPL 2024 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Stadium in Mullanpur on Sunday (April 21).
PBKS suffered their sixth loss of the season in 8 matches when they went down by 3 wickets to GT. Opting to bat first, PBKS collapsed from 45/0 to 92/7 before posting 142, which was chased down by GT in the final over.

On Monday (April 22), the IPL announced that the PBKS captain Curran has been fined 50 percent of his match fee for an offence committed during the match against GT.
Curran was fined half of his match fees for a Level 1 offence under Article 2.8 of the IPL's Code of Conduct which refers to "showing dissent at an umpire's decision" during PBKS' three-wicket loss to Gujarat Titans on Sunday.
"Curran committed a Level 1 offence under Article 2.8 of the IPL's Code of Conduct. He admitted to the offence and accepted the Match Referee's sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is final and binding," an IPL media release stated.
Earlier, Mumbai Indians pair were penalised for an offence during the match against PBKS after umpire ignored Curran's protest and allowed MI to take a review for a wide call with assist from the dugout.
MI batter Tim David and Batting Coach Kieron Pollard were fined for breaching the IPL's Code of Conduct during their team's match against Punjab Kings at the PCA New International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur on April 18.
"David and Pollard committed a Level 1 offence under Article 2.20 of the IPL's Code of Conduct. David and Pollard were each fined 20 percent of their respective match fees," IPL announced on Sunday (April 21).
"Both admitted to the offence and accepted the Match Referee's sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is final and binding."
